It‘s astonishing how mountain herbs with their ostensible fragility are able to survive in the hostile environment of the alps.

Thanks to their elaborate strategies to survive they can exist in this environment. For cooking the herbs from the high alpine region are particularly interesting since the taste and the effect is up to five times higher than from the herbs cultivated in the valleys. In South-Tyrol, the ancient knowledge of how to cook with mountain herbs is still very much alive. We accompany the cook and nutritionist Anneres Ebenkofler from the gourmet restaurant Arcana in Valle Aurina, who is specialized in mountain herbs. Her concept of preparing the herbs she finds each time on her expeditions in the high alps and around her home village Acereto is unique.
